Reflection

Many college and scholarships are available for access to students. I have learned that many colleges that I am interested in have many different degrees for engineering, which makes sense due to that I am more inclined to do an engineering career. On top of just an engineering degree, they get more advanced. By that, I mean that instead of just engineering, you can go more in depth into civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or even nuclear engineering. I found out that there are scholarships that go directly towards you, that is if you do choose one of these fields to major in.

This weeks Genius Hour topic was to create a blog spot through a website called blogger.com The purpose of this unit could be to get us using an easy and helpful way to communicate almost directly to our teachers, explain our interests for future reference, write down notes, ideas, and even experiences. During my research about this topic, I learned many things. For one,many people not only use blogger for a hobby and to have fun, but people can also being using blogger for a business setting,  job application, and to start a business. People are also able to make money by creating a blog spot. This is through a google program called Ad Sense, which puts ads on your website, and can identify how many people view your website and see the ads. Your pay is based on that the ads and views to your website.

What are the benefits of creating a blog?

• Get a better Job
• Many companies will have a website online, and employers want to hire you more if you have a strong online influence, if you know what are doing.
• Become a better writer/author
• If your goal in life is to become a writer or an author, creating a blog and regularly using it will increase your skill, and your name will get out to the community faster.

Could blogging become a job?

• Potential
• You could potentially become a full time blogger, and not have to work at any other job. However, your success will not come fast, so be prepared to have another job for a certain time before your blog takes in enough money for yourself.
• If you need money today, and want a constant, know it will always be there type of money, I would not recommend creating a blog for that. On the other hand, making a blog will keep you busy and keep you from going crazy or insane when you've got nothing else to do.

What is usually contained in a blog?

• Different types of blogs
• Many things can be written into a blog, really anything you can put into words. Topics that are common could be:
• Travel
• Writing
• Ideas
• Work/Job/Career
• Personal Diary
• Problem Solving
• The list can really go on forever, but those are some main topics.
